A moisturizer is a substance that provides moisture to your skin. It is an essential part of the daily skincare routine. This is the third step of a regular skincare routine and must never be skipped. It comes in various types with various formulations suited to different skin types.
A typical moisturizer aims to keep your skin soft, supple, and healthy. A moisturizer is applied after all other skincare steps like the serum, essence, etc. It stays as a layer on top of your skin and lets the skin absorb the other useful ingredients of the previous steps. According to the formulation different moisturizers give different results.
Different types of moisturizers:
Moisturizers come of various types. Some are designed to keep your skin simply soft and hydrated whereas the other is designed to give you a glow. Some are designed for oil control like oil-free moisturizers. Some moisturizers are used for makeup bases.
Should oily-skinned people use moisturizers?
Never skip moisturizer no matter what your skin type is. Oily-skinned people tend to believe that since their skin produces a lot of oil an external moisturizer is not required. But let me ensure you this is not true. Oily-skinned people just need to find the right moisturizer.
The key to the perfect makeup look.
This is something I didn’t know and many people do not know that a moisturizer is essential before makeup. Before we start our makeup always make sure that you have a good moisturizer applied on your skin and then go for your foundation & primer. This gives a good base for the makeup to stand longer on your skin.
Body moisturizers & face moisturizers.
Skin in different parts of the body is different. Our skin is softer & thinner on our face than the other parts of the body. Hence moisturizers are designed accordingly. Some moisturizers are designed for the skin of the face. And there are body moisturizers designed to suit the skin in the body. However, it is advisable not to use a body moisturizer on your face as it may clog pores or lead to breakouts on your skin. Similarly face moisturizers when used on the body may not give the expected results because their consistency & formulation is designed to moisturize the soft & thin skin of your face.
