Long hair is a dream for most women. To me my hair is my source of inspiration and motivation. My hair gives me so much confidence and courage to face life, to take up new challenges and so much more. You might also feel the same way if you know how to take good and proper care of hair in a simple yet effective way.
An ideal hair care routine has four important steps:
1)Oiling
2)Shampoo or cleansing
3)Conditioning
4)Serum

1)Oiling: This is the most important and indispensable part of your hair care routine. Oiling strengthens the roots of your hair, moisturizes & nourishes your scalp and keeps your hair smooth, soft shiny & healthy looking. Of course there are a lot other benefits of oiling your hair.
2)Shampooing: A shampoo is a cleanser for your hair. It cleanses your scalp and clears off the dust, dirt, sweat or grease from the scalp and keeps it clean.
3)Conditioning: Shampoo often ends up leaving your hair dull and dry which you wouldn’t want those locks of yours to look. The conditioner when applied after shampooing makes your hair look smooth, silky and soft and gives your hair that healthy look.
4)Serum: A serum is a product which you use after washing your hair. A serum may not sound too important to your hair care routine but it is because it helps in detangling your hair without breaking it. After a hair wash you’re strands are wet and weak so when directly combed it leads to breakage. A serum helps in avoiding this breakage.

A hair care routine doesn’t end with just beauty products which are external. Internal care is also essential for your hair to grow long and remain healthy. Six simple steps that can be followed are:
1)Taking the right kind of food: Dry fruits and nuts such as almond, cashew, raisins, apricots, walnuts, etc. has the vitamins and minerals required for your hair. Other foods that can be taken are eggs for protein or pulses and dairy products. Of course fresh fruits & leafy vegetables are a must too.
2)Sufficient intake of water: I can’t emphasize more on this point. Drinking 1-2 liters of water daily is so essential not just for your hair but also for your health as a whole.
3)Exercise: A daily workout of 45 minutes is essential for your body and mind. There are some specific exercises which can help boost your hair growth. What exercise does to make your hair grow long is that it increases blood supply to your roots which promotes hair growth. Yoga poses such as the Camel pose is one pose that helps to do this.
4)Massaging: Look for the right way to massage your hair. A good oil massage does not does help your hair to grow healthy and also helps reduce stress and anxiety. It helps your mind to relax and calm.
5)Breathing: Breathing daily is the most important thing. Just 3 deep breathes early in the morning will keep your body & mind healthy. It will also help increase your concentration. Breathing increases oxygen supply to your body which helps your hair to become long and healthy and also there are several benefits associated with it.
6)Be positive: There are a lot of hair myths in the Indian society. Do not believe in them. Instead think positive, do positive, speak positive and take good care of your hair and make it look the most gorgeous ever.

Choosing the right products:
Be it the quality of the internal or external product which you consume, make sure they are quality products. Today what’s more important than quality products is to find the product that’s works for you and suits your hair type. To do this, one may take guidance from the internet or other sources. However the guidance provided will only lead you to find the products but only personal experience will give you the right products and the desired results.
Some tips to find the right external products:
1)Hair oil: Look for edible oils. Edible hair oils are the best hair oils. What I mean to say by this is; we all know that coconut oil is good for your hair but never purchase the coconut oil is is designed for hair. Use the coconut oil which is 100% pure and edible. Edible products are chemical and fragrance. They also come free from additives & preservatives.
2)Shampooing: A shampoo is really difficult to choose. Most market products has surfactants in shampoo which does not do any good do your scalp. Go for mild, herbal shampoos. These days, there are good quality herbal shampoos coming up.
3)Conditioner: Always use that hair conditioner which comes of the same brand as the shampoo.
4)Serum: A serum also contains a number of chemicals. Look for natural, good quality hair serums. However, if possible look for DIY hair serums as they are the safest and best to use.
If possible always use the products which come of the same brand. The meaning is that you use the oil, shampoo, conditioner & serum of the same brand. The reason why this is recommended is because products of a brand are designed in a particular formula. With this one formula they make the rest of the products and to see the effect which the brand claims, one has to use products of this same brand because they design their products in such a way that that there is a connection with the other product which produces the claimed effect.
Oil your hair overnight or an hour before wash twice a week. Follow up with a shampoo, conditioner & serum after each wash.
